how to use video for marketingAs online videos become a more effective way to market, it is important that you and your company are able to get it right!  According to YouTube, over 6 billion hours of video are watched each month on YouTube and 100 hours of video are uploaded every minute.  Videos have become the most shared content online and you are always hearing about the next video that has gone viral.  Videos have the ability to engage your audience better than any other form of marketing while also effectively spreading your indented message.  Additionally, videos create consumer confidence and as their confidence increases the likelihood that they buy your product also does.

Why Should I Use Video for Marketing?

There are a few things to keep in mind when creating the video that will be perfect for you an your company.  Videos can come in all sorts of different lengths and it is important to look into marketing short clips on Instagram or Vine, as these two sources are highly watched everyday, as well as longer videos that can be uploaded to your website and YouTube.  You need to decide what message you are trying to get across to your viewers so you can choose what would be useful to include while filming.  Videos will only engage your audience to a certain extent and it is important that your video is direct and gets right to the point because if you get off track it is likely you will loose your viewer’s attention.  It is also effective to include a call to action in your video; these tend to fit in best at the end.  Producing your video is an important step and it is important that you take your time and don’t rush it!

One of the best ways to use video for marketing is to use customer testimonials.  Nothing can convince other consumers better a satisfied customer!  Testimonials can be persuasive and helpful to other customers as they demonstrate product effectiveness while also assuring you your “satisfaction guaranteed!” Other videos that can be useful to produce would be demonstration videos, where you explain your product and show how it is used.  Do you remember ever seeing the ShamWow! demonstration videos? They used a product demonstration that impressed customers and followed it up with multiple short testimonials of happy consumers.  These videos went completely viral and boosted their sales enormously.

It can also be helpful to upload informative videos to your companies website.  These videos could introduce your staff members and allow customers to learn a little about your staff or could even give a virtual office tour.  This kind of marketing usually works better with small firms, but can be done with any company of any size.  It allows customers to get to know you on a personal level instead of having them feel like all you want from them is their money.  These videos can be short and relaxed as they are really meant to give your customers a personal connection to the company.

As video production increases the amount of software out there to produce these videos also increases.  If you are a Mac user iMovie is a simple way to start your video production.  It is easy to navigate and will provide you with the tools you needs to create your videos!  Other software includes Animoto and Screencast.  Animoto allows you to use Hollywood-quality backgrounds to produce a successful video that looks very professional.  Animoto allows you to create videos using photos by simply uploading the photos into the software.  Screencast allows you to record your computer screen by taking screenshots and you can also add voice over.  This can be helpful if you are creating a demonstration video of something on your computer.  After creating your video no matter what type or length it is important to upload it to video sharing sites, most importantly YouTube.  By placing your videos on YouTube it will hopefully pop-up on not only their search engines but also Google’s.  Both Google and YouTube are heavily accessed sites by online users so this will increase your videos views.
