5 Quick Social Media Tips For Small Businesses

social media strategySocial media is often viewed as one of the most unpredictable marketing channels in the industry; however, there are some tools and simple approaches that can help make your businesses' campaign a success.

When properly executed, a social media campaign can generate traffic to your website, while bringing in new leads for your business, allowing you to connect with prospective buyers.

Implementing a social media strategy is not always a simple task, and can take more time than you have on your hands. If your social media campaign isn’t as successful as you would like it to be, you may want to reevaluate your plan after scanning through these tips!

Know Your Goals

Make sure your social media strategy supports the goals of your business, which likely aren’t to get more Facebook likes and shares. Instead your goals should be focused on generating leads, converting leads to customers and making a profit.

Consider Platform Appropriate Messaging

Each social media platform serves a different purpose and draws a distinctive audience. If you understand this, you will have plenty of opportunities to help your marketing efforts run more smoothly. Many businesses are oblivious to this nuanced idea, and it often shows. For example, you likely wouldn’t want to promote a law firm on a more visual site, like Instagram or Pinterest.

Invest Time In Your Social Media Campaign

This may seem like a given; however, it is easy to automate your social media campaign and be done with your messages for the day in an hour. Spend more time than you typically would on your campaign to extend the chances of positive results. Even if you have a very small budget, you need to allot some extra time to social media marketing. If you can afford to hire a social media marketer to do this work for you, however, it will free up your time for writing and other marketing efforts and increase the time spent on this endeavor.

Sharing Is Caring

An effective social media marketing plan is all about posting relevant information routinely on a regular basis. As such, your social media marketing plan must include a schedule of when you’re going to post, or at least a commitment to post once a day, twice a day, once a week, etc. Stay consistent with the frequency of your posts. As you build up an audience, your followers will be expecting new content.

In addition to posting new content regularly, make sure you’re also sharing other businesses’s content whenever possible. If you haven’t already, make sure you embed “share” links on all of your blogs, repost others’ content that’s relevant to your brand or goals, and post content that’s interesting enough that your audience will be motivated to share it on their own.

Measure Your Results

As you continue your wonderful work on the social media campaign and it begins to gain traction, refer back to the goals you set at the beginning and see whether or not you are measuring up. Perhaps you have focused on obtaining new followers, gaining likes for your business, increasing your blog traffic, subscribers to your YouTube channel, or simply gaining new customers. Regardless, always examine your statistics regularly and make the necessary adjustments. From this you can further your social media marketing success.
